Self-Date Chats
Where I talk to other women about how they approach self-love, self-care, and self-dates.
Reposting this interview with Master Aesthetician Natalie Bevans from earlier this year. There is so much gold in here that I didn’t want any new subscribers to miss it! Thanks, Natalie for weighing in on the value of spending time with yourself and your thoughtful approach to spending time alone.
Natalie’s passion is to teach women about their own skin, helping them recognize the changes it goes through and empowering them to get the results they want. Natalie was a guest on The Spinster Life Podcast and we had an amazing chat about how to accept your aging skin and I couldn’t think of a better person to ask about self-care.
What do you think about taking yourself on dates?
I think spending time with oneself is very important. Giving you time to turn inward and really navigated through your thoughts and feelings. Taking the time to understand yourself and be in control of your thoughts and actions will flow through the rest of your day. Creating more purpose to your life.
What’s your favorite way to spend time with yourself?
I enjoy just being. Sitting with my thoughts sometimes. Other times I enjoy making a treat or snack and reading a book. Being by myself is a way for me to decompress and release thoughts and emotions that I wouldn't otherwise do.
Where do you love to go by yourself?
I will take walks and enjoy nature or just be in my house and bake.
Natalie’s favorite self-care activity is…
either taking a hot bath and doing a masque and other extra skin treatments or being in the kitchen and creating something new.
Natalie’s words of wisdom for anyone who doesn’t like spending time with themselves…
Being alone is a big step in growth. Enjoying your own company and feeling complete with that is important. This for some can be a gradual process so start with short times and plan something you really enjoy. Do it just for yourself and take time to ponder on why you are uncomfortable alone.
Natalie’s last self-date
If I were to go full out then I would go do a yoga class next to the spa and get a facial. followed by a massage. Treating myself to some delicious takeout and head home to watch a funny movie.
And her next self-date?
I will be giving myself a chemical peel and a luxurious masque.
Natalie’s best reason to date yourself
It’s really about taking care of yourself the way you would take care of a best friend or someone you love very much. When you learn to love yourself and treat yourself well everything else will follow.
